Contemporary Garden Villa

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: April 2023

When our clients purchased this property, they told us they wanted a home that captured the charm of a European garden villa, the kind that feels like it’s been tucked into a countryside garden for centuries, all while remaining refined and comfortably modern. The showstopper feature that we added is undeniably the kitchen’s ceiling, a massive, true barrel-vault executed in reclaimed brick. It provides a historic texture that perfectly grounds the room. Below it, the island acts as a functional sculpture: a monolithic block of heavily veined Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble, resting onto a custom, burnished brass base. The cabinetry is a muted, flat-panel “Jitney” from Farrow & Ball, allowing the true-divided-light Crittall-style steel windows to frame the sprawling Texas landscape without visual competition from the millwork.

Moving into the living and bathing spaces, the design relies heavily on interior masonry. We added floor-to-ceiling dry-stacked Texas Cordova limestone, a notoriously difficult material to execute indoors without feeling cavernous. Here, paired with an ultra-matte, wide-plank European oak floor, it feels incredibly warm. In the powder bath, the floating vanity is wrapped in a striking marble, paired against a soft, organic asymmetrical mirror. It’s a one-of-a-kind, world-class residence defined by formidable structural bones, with fixtures and finishes that introduce a necessary, sweeping softness.

Key Custom Features: Awe-inspiring hand-laid reclaimed Chicago brick barrel-vaulted ceiling over the primary kitchen, double-height great room rework with steel-look window/door systems and limestone fireplace surround, oversized spa shower clad in large-format natural stone with integrated floating bench, recessed niche, dual rain heads and linear drain assembly, bookmatched marble island and appliance wall cladding, appliance package featuring Gaggenau ovens, Sub-Zero column refrigeration, and integrated wine/drinks storage, Waterworks plumbing in unlacquered brass, sculptural “cloud” pendants (Apparatus Studio), tailored dual-vanity suite with floating drawers and slab splashes, hidden AV/fireplace wall detailing

Marble & Brass Contemporary

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: August 2023

The entry foyer immediately establishes a grand, formal tone with a large-format checkerboard floor utilizing honed Nero Marquina and Statuario marble. This foundation anchors a traditional sweeping staircase featuring a dark-stained, hand-carved wood rail and intricate wrought iron spindles. Transitioning into the primary kitchen, the millwork shifts to a highly structured, inset-panel custom cabinetry finished in a deep, saturated indigo. The island is highly substantial, utilizing double Calacatta Vagli marble with a waterfall edge. This same marble is utilized for the perimeter countertops and runs as a full-height slab backsplash up to the ceiling line, sitting behind an open, custom-welded brass gallery shelving unit. A structured plaster hood and polished brass fixtures complete the highly tailored, almost bespoke-suit feel of the room.

The laundry room shifts the flooring to a dark basalt tile laid in a herringbone pattern, paired with absolute black soapstone counters and off-white lower casework, creating a highly functional, moody environment. The primary bath ceiling features deep, rigid coffering that adds immense weight to the room. The shower enclosure is clad entirely in fluted, ribbed white marble, integrating a solid marble slab bench and a tumbled marble checkerboard mosaic floor. An exposed, thermostatic brass shower system is surface-mounted against the ribbed stone. The dual vanity utilizes a deep espresso finish with traditional brass bridge faucets, contrasting sharply against the heavily veined marble flooring that runs continuously throughout the wet spaces.

Key Custom Features: Bold black-and-white checkerboard honed marble entry flooring using Statuario and Nero Marquina tiles laid on diagonal, Benjamin Moore Navy tall cabinetry and pantry towers with fluted columns by Plain & Fancy, Calacatta Vagli marble waterfall islands and double vanities with mitered edges, custom brass and gold lighting fixtures including oversized Visual Comfort ring chandeliers, high-contrast open-concept kitchen with Sub-Zero Designer Series, unlacquered brass P.E. Guerin hardware throughout, radiant-heated marble floors in primary bath with steam shower and freestanding tub, full Crestron smart home integration including automated window treatments and security, custom built-in bar with wine cellar cooling by EuroCave, hand-applied Venetian plaster walls in living room

French Country Transitional

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: September 2025

The clients who owned this home said the rooms didn’t quite flow together and the finishes had seen better days. When we first walked into that foyer, it was just a dark, boxy space, but we stripped it bare to the studs so we could properly engineer that grand, sweeping curve for the staircase. Our millwork guys steam-bent solid white oak to hit that exact radius without compromising the grain, and we custom-fabricated the brass balustrade. We even engineered a matching, integrated safety gate at the bottom so the young couple’s kids would be safe while preserving the sightlines. We anchored the whole room with a beautiful honed checkerboard floor using a matte Crema Marfil and a soft, veined Carrara. We’ll never forget the day the marble delivery truck arrived and we realized the slabs for the foyer floor were even prettier in person than the samples. We set it on the diagonal to naturally draw your eye right up toward the vault and that massive ring chandelier. It’s the kind of entryway that truly welcomes you home. In the kitchen, we departed from the standard white-on-white by utilizing a custom Dusty Blue lacquer from Farrow & Ball for the dual-island configuration. The countertops are a honed Imperial Danby from Vermont, chosen for its durability and tighter grain structure compared to softer Italian counterparts. To warm up that airy coolness, we structurally tied in reclaimed white oak beams across the ceiling, and perfectly color-matched them to the brass dome pendants we hunted down. We even carried that easy-going vibe into the utility room with that beautiful pastoral scenic wallpaper, because why shouldn't the spaces where you fold your laundry feel just as peaceful as your living room?

In the master bath, the gorgeous stone you’re seeing in the glass shower and rolling across that custom double vanity is an imported Arabescato Corchia marble. We spent three full days at the slab yard making templates because we were set on having that beautiful charcoal veining flow seamlessly over the counter edge and the backsplash without a single visual break. Installing that solid marble floating bench in the shower was no easy feat. We had to weld steel plates into the wall framing just to invisibly support the sheer weight of the stone. We balanced the marble by custom-milling those warm, fluted walnut cabinet faces right there on site, finishing it all off with unlacquered brass wall sconces and fixtures that are going to develop an incredible, rich patina as the years go by. By the time we were done and the family walked through for the first time, it was a special moment. We knew this one turned out really special.

Key Custom Features: Hand-selected Danby Marble imported from Vermont for all countertops, dual islands, and full-height primary shower enclosure with book-matched veining, custom Dusty Blue lacquer Farrow & Ball painted cabinetry with inset doors and soft-close hardware by Christopher Peacock Cabinetry, two-story curved white oak staircase with custom gold-leaf 60-arm chandelier by Visual Comfort & Co., La Cornue dual-fuel range with polished brass accents and rotisserie, Sub-Zero PRO 48" built-in refrigerator with integrated paneling, Miele 30" steam convection oven and built-in coffee system, unlacquered brass Dornbracht Tara faucets and shower systems throughout, radiant-heated marble floors in all five bathrooms, Crestron home automation with Lutron Caséta wireless lighting and motorized shades, fluted walnut paneling in formal dining room, custom brass picture lights by Circa Lighting

Contemporary Farmhouse

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: August 2025

When our clients approached us to renovate this property, their main goal was to create a space that was universally welcoming and completely timeless. They wanted a legacy home that would feel just as fresh and inviting twenty years from now as it does today. To make the large rooms feel cozier without losing their scale, we added custom, reclaimed wood beams across the vaulted ceilings. These natural wood accents stand out perfectly against the fresh Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace-painted walls and crisp cabinetry. In the kitchen, the real showstopper is the stonework. We used a heavily veined marble for the massive waterfall island, the countertops, and the floating shelves that run straight across the backsplash. It’s a bold choice that beautifully balances out the simple, classic look of the white shaker cabinets. Above the island, two oversized brass ring chandeliers help tie the room's warmer tones together.

In the main living area, the eye is instantly drawn to the floor-to-ceiling chopped stone fireplace. We gave it a modern twist by adding a thick, floating concrete hearth that stretches across the base of the wall. This seamless mix of natural materials continues right into the primary bathroom. We kept the wide-plank European oak floors going straight through the bathroom to make the space feel like a true extension of the living area. The suite features its own vaulted, beamed ceiling and a custom vanity wall with tall, brass-framed mirrors. Tucked to the side, we designed a striking arched alcove lined with soft, shimmering tile specifically for the soaking tub, creating a quiet, everyday retreat.

Key Custom Features: Reclaimed solid wood ceiling beams, floor-to-ceiling chopped natural stone fireplace with a floating concrete hearth, custom white shaker-style cabinetry with soft-close hardware, Calacatta marble waterfall island with matching slab backsplash and integrated floating stone shelves, appliance package featuring a 48-inch Wolf dual-fuel range and full-height Sub-Zero wine storage and refrigeration, oversized brass ring chandeliers by Visual Comfort, unlacquered brass hardware and plumbing fixtures by Newport Brass, primary bath featuring custom floor-to-ceiling brass-framed vanity mirrors, custom arched bathing alcove with mosaic tile, and wide-plank European white oak hardwood flooring throughout

Spanish Revival

Location: Tanglewood, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: June 2020

There is a profound joy in designing a space this expansive; without the right design grounding, it can easily feel cavernous. Here, we countered the volumetric height with substantial, rough-sawn structural oak beams, stained with a custom dark walnut aniline dye to pull the eye upward while simultaneously compressing the vastness into something intimate. The windows rely on historically accurate, true-divided-light steel casements, which frame the lush Houston canopy like living artwork, offering a rigid, industrial counterpoint to the soft, hand-troweled Venetian plaster surrounding the monolithic fireplace.

In the kitchen, the custom millwork is a rift-sawn white oak, finished with a ceruse to highlight the linear grain without introducing yellow undertones. This foundation allows the expansive island, draped in a honed Calacatta Vagli, to harmonize the room. The smoky brecciation in the stone acts as a soft bridge between the pale French oak wide-plank flooring and the striking matte black of the steel doors. The unlacquered brass pendants overhead provide the necessary visual warmth, ensuring the room remains inviting despite its monumental scale.

Key Custom Features: Reworked open-plan kitchen/living envelope with white oak beam ceiling package and new steel-framed sliders/windows, custom inset cabinetry in warm white with rift white oak island and concealed pantry wall, premium appliance suite with Sub-Zero columns, Wolf M Series ovens, Wolf gas rangetop, Miele built-in coffee system and Cove dishwashers, extra-thick mitered marble island and backsplash package with concealed outlet placement and under-island lighting, primary bath with full-height marble flooring/shower walls, freestanding soaking tub and floating vanity in walnut, custom lime/plaster fireplace surround and tailored millwork built-ins, decorative lighting package mixing Lindsey Adelman Studio / Apparatus-style statement fixtures with Visual Comfort architectural layers, Lutron HomeWorks + Palladiom shades, and upgraded HVAC zoning/dehumidification

Refined Hacienda Modern

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: June 2025

This renovation leans heavily into rich, old-world textures while maintaining a highly optimized, modern footprint. The flooring is an immediate standout, utilizing large-scale, tumbled limestone hexagons that ground the space with an undeniable historic gravity. In the primary bath, we custom fabricated a massive, solid travertine soaking tub. It acts as a sculptural anchor against the arched, brass-framed shower enclosure. The shower interior transitions to an elongated, glazed terracotta brick.

The kitchen and utility spaces introduce heavily rustic, hand-hewn ceiling beams with a dark, custom-stained oak island, topped with a cool-toned Calacatta Vagli. Even the dog-wash station is elevated far beyond mere utility, featuring a custom cast-stone basin flanked by unlacquered brass wall-mounted fixtures. But the absolute jewel box of the home is the powder room; it has a spectacular, floating vanity carved from a single block of heavily brecciated, oxblood Calacatta Viola marble.

Key Custom Features: European-inspired kitchen with reclaimed wood ceiling beams, custom dark-stained island millwork, plaster range hood surround and full-height marble backsplash, Wolf + Sub-Zero range with integrated refrigeration/wine storage and undercounter prep refrigeration, Rohl Perrin & Rowe bridge faucet + pot filler in unlacquered brass, expansive steel-look glazing to pool-facing living areas, linear fireplace and built-in media wall with custom millwork, large-format primary bath with stone tub, hex-pattern flooring, brass-framed shower enclosure and dual-vanity suite, powder vanity details including Calacatta Viola accent stone insert, designer lighting (Visual Comfort and AERIN), and premium climate-control zoning with humidity management for stone-heavy wet areas, and a fully equipped dog-wash suite with imported Spanish encaustic tile

Mid-Century Farmhouse

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: October 2024

You look at a space like this, and getting that massive vaulted fireplace exactly right really sets the baseline standard for the rest of the build. We drove out to the quarry ourselves to hand-select every block of that Texas Hill Country limestone, making sure the natural color variations would tie perfectly into the custom rift-sawn oak bookshelves flanking either side. Everybody loves that seamless indoor-outdoor living, but if you don't engineer the structure right up front, those heavy glass panels will inevitably cause the track to sag and stick a year down the line. To prevent that, we set up a temporary load across the headers to model the exact weight of the glass for several weeks before the actual doors were even delivered. Because the framing was given time to settle under the identical weight beforehand, those massive doors rolled directly into their pockets perfectly level on the first try. That entirely eliminated the need to backtrack or open up freshly painted drywall to adjust tracks, keeping the final phase of the build moving straight ahead without delays.

That same requirement for precision determines exactly how we sequence the final finishes. You see it in the primary bath, too. We secured this incredible Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble for the expansive vanity, but the natural veining is so bold that we actually mapped the slabs out and physically placed the raw Waterworks brass fixtures on top of the stone before programming a single cut. We make absolutely sure the plumbing hardware complements the natural pattern of the stone rather than drilling right through the best part of it. We run that identical, strict coordination across the whole house, whether we are integrating the exact dimensions of the EuroCave cooling and LED displays into the custom wine room long before the glass is cut, or aligning the handcrafted coffered ceilings in the study with the gold-accented sconces and the linear chandeliers. When you plan out a property to that level of millimeter precision months in advance, multiple specialized trades can knock out their work side-by-side, resulting in a renovation that progresses efficiently.

Key Custom Features: Hand-selected Texas Hill Country limestone fireplace with surround and flanking custom rift-sawn oak bookshelves, linear chandeliers by Visual Comfort, mixed light-oak and soft-white painted cabinetry with inset doors, expansive primary bath vanity in Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble and Waterworks brass fixtures, seamless indoor-outdoor living with all windows and pocket sliding glass doors by Western Window Systems in Phoenix, Arizona, gold-accented lighting including Kelly Wearstler-inspired sconces, handcrafted coffered ceilings in study, custom wine room with EuroCave cooling and LED display

California Modern

Location: Tanglewood, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: March 2024

Trading the Pacific coastline for Houston didn't mean our clients were willing to leave their laid-back aesthetic behind. For this complete gut renovation, they asked us to blend their Southern California roots with their new Texas home. To capture that authentic California minimalist feel, we knew we had to focus on bringing in tons of natural light, pale woods, and soft, warm textures. The heart of the home is the incredibly open, airy kitchen. To ground the soaring ceilings, we installed custom bleached white oak cabinetry that immediately makes the space feel welcoming. Because the room is so massive, we were able to build a stunning, oversized plaster vent hood and bring in two large islands, creating the ultimate setup for everyday prep and entertaining. For the countertops and seamless slab backsplashes, we chose a beautiful sandy-toned quartzite that ties the earthy color palette together, finishing the space with elegant alabaster bowl pendants suspended by brass chains.

That relaxed, luxurious energy flows right into the main living spaces. The family room is anchored by a massive floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace lined with minimalist floating shelves, and sleek black steel-framed arched doors beautifully frame the views to the outside. One of our favorite structural changes during the gut was the main staircase, we completely wrapped the guardrail in a smooth plaster to create a sweeping, sculptural centerpiece and capped it with a continuous solid brass handrail. In the bathrooms, a timeless black-and-white checkerboard marble floor grounds the primary bath, popping perfectly against custom fluted oak vanities, thick quartzite countertops, and warm brass wall sconces. The finished home is the ultimate mix of laid-back, everyday living and high-end design.

Key Custom Features: Custom bleached white oak cabinetry with a mix of flat-panel and shaker profiles, oversized plaster range hood enclosure, quartzite countertops and continuous slab backsplashes, dual kitchen islands including one with a full waterfall edge, arched steel-framed exterior glass doors, custom plaster-wrapped curved staircase with solid unlacquered brass handrail, classic Carrara and Nero Marquina marble checkerboard flooring in bathrooms, fluted vanity detailing, alabaster and brass bowl pendants by Visual Comfort, integrated Miele coffee system and convection ovens, full-height Sub-Zero wine storage, unlacquered brass wall-mounted plumbing fixtures by Waterworks, Toto Neorest smart toilets, smooth plaster wall treatments, and wide-plank light European white oak hardwood floors throughout

Soft Transitional

Location: Sugar Land, Texas

Renovation Completion: May 2023

The undeniable centerpiece of the entry is the sweeping, hand-troweled Venetian plaster spiral staircase. By treating the balustrade as a solid, continuous ribbon of plaster rather than opting for traditional ironwork, the staircase transcends function and becomes a massive, habitable sculpture. The texture of the plaster absorbs light rather than reflecting it, creating soft, ethereal gradients throughout the day. It’s a brilliant contrast against the rigid, rectilinear grid of the black steel-framed curtain walls that flood the space with natural light.

The kitchen continues this soft, tactile theme. We utilized a warm, custom rift and quartered white oak for the inset cabinetry, which feels furniture-like. Instead of a monolithic slab backsplash, we introduced a beautifully intricate Moroccan zellige tile. The handmade, slightly imperfect nature of the tile provides a necessary human touch, preventing the crisp quartzite island and the monumental plaster range hood from feeling too cold. The unlacquered brass lantern pendants add just a whisper of historical Mediterranean context, grounding the airy, soaring space.

Key Custom Features: Sculptural hand-troweled Venetian plaster helical stair wrapping a custom multi-story steel-framed atrium window, premium Wolf range in stainless, oversized rift-sawn white oak kitchen island with quartzite slab, custom powder room with Schumacher wallcovering and Visual Comfort sconces, wide-plank European oak flooring throughout main level, bespoke fireplace surround and built-in cabinetry in lacquered black, Lutron HomeWorks lighting scenes with keypad trim, and upgraded trim carpentry / flush floor vent detailing for a cleaner design profile

Earthy Transitional

Location: Tanglewood, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: April 2021

This renovation operates entirely on the principle of monolithic volume. The entry sequence is defined by a sweeping helical staircase featuring custom forged iron balusters and white oak treads that seamlessly match the flooring. The defining characteristic of this space is the wall treatment. The structural surroundings were hand-troweled in a heavily textured, natural lime plaster, a Tadelakt finish. This creates a seamless, matte environment that absorbs and diffuses natural light pouring in through the black steel-framed windows. In the kitchen, the cabinetry is a flat-panel, warm ivory, sitting flush beneath a continuous plaster range hood that blends directly into the wall architecture. The island is a singular, massive block of dramatically veined Paonazzo marble, paired with an integrated marble sink and an extended slab backsplash that provides the room's primary visual movement against the otherwise muted, plaster backdrop.

The primary bath introduces a tactile change in the flooring plan by utilizing reclaimed terracotta brick laid in a precise herringbone pattern. This highly porous, historically rich material grounds the space, allowing the modern fixtures to float above it. The vanity is a wall-mounted, flat-panel system in a soft bone finish, topped with a thick slab of Arabescato Corchia marble that continues up the wall as a high splash. The use of frameless, low-iron glass for the shower enclosure ensures the visual flow remains uninterrupted, while wall-mounted raw brass fixtures are set directly into the marble, integrating the rustic floor with highly honed, luxurious stone.

Key Custom Features: European transitional interior package with limewash plaster wall finishes and clean-lined trim simplification, custom white oak staircase refit with curved geometry and blackened steel balustrade, integrated kitchen with plaster hood surround and full custom cabinetry on Blum Legrabox / soft-close hardware, Paonazzo marble slab countertops and backsplash sequencing through kitchen and vanity zones, Dornbracht Vaia fittings in brushed brass throughout primary bath, tumbled limestone/brick-pattern herringbone flooring in primary suite wet areas, curbless steam shower with recessed niches, linear drains, oversized round mirrors with integrated anti-fog and dimmable backlighting, steel-and-glass office/den door system with thermally improved glazing, wide-plank French oak flooring (matte finish), Lutron lighting controls and upgraded HVAC zoning/dehumidification for double-height living areas

Texas Transitional

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: May 2018

This project beautifully captures the soul of Texas legacy design while remaining entirely forward-looking. To anchor the massive, double-height great room, we introduced a breathtaking fireplace constructed from hand-chopped Lueders limestone. The bespoke masonry arch of the firebox gives the structure an immediate sense of permanence, as if the home was built around the chimney. Flanking this monumental stone piece is custom, rift-sawn white oak millwork. The warmth of the oak balances the heavy masonry, creating a space that feels grand yet incredibly inviting.

The structural ceiling grid in the kitchen is highlighted by deep coffers, pulling the eye upward and defining the culinary space within the open-concept footprint. We utilized classic, heavy-veined Statuario marble for the perimeter countertops and the expansive central islands. Notice the staircase in the periphery; the sweeping wrought-iron balustrade with its simple, elegant knuckles offers a nod to traditional Southern design, grounding the contemporary expanse of the glass.

Key Custom Features: Custom light-oak cabinetry and extensive built-ins throughout in rift-sawn quarter-sawn white oak by Christopher Peacock, large natural Texas limestone fireplace surround with 12-ft hearth and integrated floating shelves, black-framed steel doors and windows by Optimum Window Manufacturing, 8" wide-plank European white oak flooring in natural oil finish, fully integrated mudroom/laundry cabinetry with pull-out hampers and Miele washer/dryer, bright open floor plan with soaring ceilings and abundant natural light via clerestory windows, Gaggenau 400 series ovens and warming drawer, Sub-Zero 36" refrigerator with panel-ready doors, unlacquered brass Waterworks fixtures, full Lutron RadioRA3 lighting control and Savant Pro AV system, custom bronze entry hardware by P.E. Guerin

Parisian Transitional

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: July 2025

Stepping into this home, you are immediately grounded by the exquisite European white oak flooring, laid meticulously in a classic herringbone pattern. The clients were inspired by 19th-century Parisian apartments along the Champs-Élysées, where the design is celebrated through rigorous geometry and breathtaking stone. The kitchen is anchored by two monumental islands wrapped in honed Calacatta Borghini marble, its warm, sweeping veins providing a brilliant counterpoint to the precision-milled, rift-sawn oak cabinetry. Overhead, custom fluted glass and unlacquered brass linear suspensions draw the eye upward, illuminating a space engineered for both cozy Sunday morning pancake breakfasts and high-capacity holiday entertaining.

The material selections truly shine in the primary and guest baths. We engineered a massive, floating custom vanity entirely out of Calacatta Viola. Working with stone this heavily figured requires extraordinary precision in the templating phase; achieving that seamless waterfall edge and integrated basin with the Viola’s signature deep purple and brecciated grey veining was a structural triumph. Just beyond, a freestanding soaking tub rests in a sun-drenched alcove. It provides an elevated, hotel-like retreat right at home, allowing the owners to decompress in a space that feels incredibly restorative and upscale.

Throughout the private wings, we designed extensive built-ins and wardrobe walls utilizing custom stained white oak. The challenge here was maintaining the airy, luminous volume of the home while maximizing functional storage for a multi-generational family. The layered natural textures, from the brass hardware to the refined grain of the millwork, create a soft, inviting atmosphere. The finished home effortlessly combines the grandeur of European proportions with the everyday comfort and durability required by a large family.

Key Custom Features: 7" wide-plank European white oak herringbone flooring in custom light-wash finish throughout main level, book-matched Calacatta Borghini marble waterfall islands and floating Calacatta Viola Powder vanity with mitered edges imported from Italy, custom crystal linear chandeliers by Apparatus Studio suspended over 14-ft islands, backlit floating vanities with integrated LED lighting by Lindsey Adelman-inspired sculptural sconces in unlacquered brass, full-height rift-sawn oak built-in cabinetry and shelving by Christopher Peacock Cabinetry with hidden LED display lighting, Wolf dual-fuel range, Sub-Zero 48" PRO refrigerator with custom paneling, Miele 30" steam oven suite, Dornbracht Tara brass fixtures throughout, Savant Pro smart home automation with Lutron RadioRA3 lighting control and motorized sheer linen drapery, seamless pocket sliding doors by Fleetwood integrating indoor-outdoor living, custom Venetian plaster walls in entry foyer.

Texas Transitional

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: September 2018

The design theme of this renovation is defined by a continuous application of hand-troweled Roman clay, creating a seamless, monolithic finish across the walls, ceilings, and the sweeping, sculptural staircase. This highly tactile, unpainted surface diffuses the Texas sunlight, establishing a deeply organic, luminous interior volume that feels both ancient and highly engineered. Grounding the expansive spaces are wide-plank, wire-brushed European white oak floors, installed with a matte finish to preserve the tonality of the wood while standing up to high traffic. The millwork executes a similar restraint, utilizing custom rift-sawn white oak in the kitchen and utility spaces. This introduces a linear, vertical graining that provides a necessary, subtle structural contrast to the soft, arched windows and sweeping curves found throughout the home’s layout. Dark bronze, narrow-sightline casement windows frame the exterior, adding contrast to the soft plaster surrounds.

The defining material counterpoint to the warm plaster and oak is the extensive, masterful use of heavily veined Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble. In the kitchen, the stone wraps the expansive island in a heavy waterfall edge and forms the perimeter countertops, its dynamic gold and deep grey veining providing immediate visual distinction against the minimalist cabinetry. This material continuity extends flawlessly into the primary bath, where the same marble is fabricated into a massive, wall-mounted integral trough sink and completely clads the exterior of the freestanding soaking tub. Wall-mounted unlacquered brass plumbing fixtures and minimalist, cylindrical brass sconces compliment the plaster walls, offering a highly intentional warmth. The resulting space is a cohesive design, where the luxury is derived entirely from the scale of the residence and the purity of the stone and plaster.

Key Custom Features: Sculpted plaster staircase rebuild with smooth radius geometry and museum-finish curved returns, Roman-clay / lime-plaster wall finish package (Portola/Meoded-style specification) throughout primary spaces, vein-matched Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble kitchen island + splash + primary bath vanity/tub apron assemblies, custom white oak slab and frame cabinetry with integrated finger pulls and soft-close Grass movement hardware, freestanding stone tub with floor-mounted tub filler by Fantini in brushed brass, custom arched niche millwork and plaster reveals, Miele laundry tower + built-in drying/storage wall with marble utility counters, Waterworks brass plumbing, and whole-home dehumidification/HVAC balancing upgrades for tall-volume spaces

Soft Oak & Stone

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: August 2023

To properly execute a comprehensive white oak cabinetry aesthetic that spans multiple rooms, you have to manage the exact tolerances from the very first day. The main challenge in the kitchen was integrating that heavy Arabescato Corchia marble alongside the extensive millwork without losing weeks to field measurements. To manage this, we didn't wait for the framing and drywall to finish. We laser-scanned the raw marble slabs to capture the exact natural veining. We sent those 3D files directly to our stone fabricators, who were mapping out the bookmatched hood wall and the mitered slab returns for the waterfall island, while simultaneously feeding the exact same data to our millwork shop. Because both teams were fabricating from the identical digital model at the same time, the cabinetry framing perfectly locked in the Sub-Zero refrigeration and the Wolf range on the exact day they were delivered. The heavy stone elements and the polished-brass workstation sink slipped into their designated housings without a single modification needed on site. Keeping those specialized crews operating in parallel off-site kept the floor clear.

We applied that same strict sequence to the primary suite, where the technical requirements shift heavily to electrical integration. In the boutique dressing room, we installed a massive translucent Cristallo quartzite slab to serve as a feature backdrop. If you simply run standard lighting behind a slab of that density, you end up with harsh, visible hot spots. To solve this, we framed out a shallow, calibrated diffusion cavity behind the stone before the custom full-height white oak wardrobe bays ever went in. We wired the concealed LED illumination through that cavity and tied it straight into the centralized Google Home ecosystem while the walls were still open. By handling that structural wiring upfront, the Poliform-inspired millwork, right down to the glass display shelving, valet rods, and leather-lined jewelry drawers, installed cleanly with all the lighting fully voice-enabled on day one. When you remove the guesswork in the early framing stages, the finish work simply bolts into place, leaving behind a highly complex space that functions with absolute reliability.

Key Custom Features: White oak custom cabinetry program spanning kitchen, utility room, primary bath, secondary vanity zones, and a fully bespoke boutique dressing suite; Arabescato Corchia bookmatched marble hood wall and waterfall island with mitered slab returns; Sub-Zero refrigeration/wine storage with Wolf range and M Series wall ovens; workstation sink specification and polished-brass plumbing suite; custom dressing room build-out with full-height white oak wardrobe bays, integrated LED closet lighting, glass display shelving, leather-lined jewelry/watch drawers, valet rods, concealed hampers, and a custom center island display (Poliform-inspired millwork detailing); backlit translucent Cristallo quartzite feature wall / display backdrop in the dressing room with concealed LED illumination for a soft gallery effect; floral wallpaper in powder room (Pierre Frey); Restoration Hardware crystal chandeliers; Miele laundry suite with custom drying racks and utility sink station; and Google Home Ecosystem Integration (lighting, climate, cameras, doorbell, and voice-enabled automation).

Shadow Stone Contemporary

Location: Sugar Land, Texas

Renovation Completion: March 2022

The defining structural change in this project was the installation of powder-coated steel Crittall-style windows and doors, which beautifully frame the yard. But the true focal point of the main room is the full-height Paonazzo marble fireplace surround. The biggest challenge was timing the kitchen installation around the Paonazzo stonework. We had custom Christopher Peacock cabinetry, painted in a rich, matte Benjamin Moore Onyx, with stunning rift-sawn oak interiors, arriving at the exact moment the stone masons were maneuvering the massive waterfall-edge Paonazzo kitchen island into place and cutting its integrated sink. Normally, coordinating heavy steel, custom imported stone, and delicate high-end millwork at the same time creates a bottleneck that can stall a build for weeks. Instead, we carefully sequenced our specialized trades so the millwork team could set the onyx cabinetry in perfect alignment while we simultaneously installed the flush-mount Gaggenau appliances into their housings, bringing the entire room together without losing a single day on the schedule.

Just off that kitchen, we built out a completely hidden pantry housing Sub-Zero undercounter refrigeration, keeping the main living and prep areas completely uncluttered. You'll notice the care in the secondary spaces too, where we leveled out intricate, handmade cement encaustic mosaic tile floors in all the bathrooms to feel smooth under bare feet, pairing them perfectly with solid Dornbracht platinum fixtures. It really is a joy to step back at the end of a project like this and appreciate a home that looks and functions this smoothly.

Key Custom Features: Full-height Paonazzo marble slab fireplace surround imported from Italy with integrated TV niche and floating hearth, matte black Benjamin Moore Onyx custom cabinetry with rift-sawn oak interiors by Christopher Peacock, black powder-coated steel multi-panel Crittall-style windows and doors by Optimum Window, intricate handmade cement encaustic mosaic tile floors in all secondary bathrooms, massive waterfall-edge Paonazzo marble kitchen island with integrated sink, fully integrated Gaggenau 400 series flush-mount appliance suite, Dornbracht platinum fixtures, curved dark rift-sawn walnut staircase with custom blackened steel railing, Crestron lighting and AV system with motorized Lutron shades on all windows, hidden pantry with Sub-Zero undercounter refrigeration, custom bronze sconces by Arteriors

Cream & Oak Chateau

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: February 2020

This home required a balance between historical European permanence and the demands of modern living. The defining feature of this kitchen is the monumental plaster range hood, shaped with a sweeping, flared corbel detail that nods to 18th-century French chateaus. The cabinetry is a true inset construction with exposed barrel hinges and a delicate bead-and-quirk profile, painted in a bespoke clotted cream shade that possesses a highly reflective lacquered finish to welcome natural light into the room.

The crown jewel, however, is the stone: a breathtaking Calacatta Macchia Vecchia. This specific quarry yields an oxidized, caramel-and-gold veining that injects an incredible amount of warmth into the otherwise serene palette. We utilized an intricate Ogee edge profile on the island to honor the traditional architecture, while the backsplash transitions into an integrated stone shelf, a highly technical fabrication feat that requires absolute precision in the templating. Anchored by a heavily wire-brushed chevron oak floor, the space feels like it has existed for a century, yet functions with absolute contemporary precision.

Key Custom Features: Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble carried through kitchen counters, backsplash, waterfall island, wet bar, and primary shower/vanity surfaces, custom inset perimeter cabinetry in painted ivory with rift white oak island cladding and furniture toe detailing, sculpted plaster vent hood with concealed liner and integrated stone shelf, appliance suite centered on a Lacanche range (Sully) with panel-ready refrigeration and undercounter beverage refrigeration, Perrin & Rowe bridge faucet + pot filler in aged brass, herringbone white oak flooring with flush-transition stone thresholds, primary bath curbless shower with linear drain and integrated slab bench, plaster-finish wall package and tailored trim rework, and decorative lighting by Visual Comfort / AERIN with layered dimmable scenes

Heritage Walnut & Vaults

Location: River Oaks, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: October 2022

Here, the design dictates a return to grand, classical proportions, but it’s executed with exacting, modern tolerances. The primary shower is swathed entirely in book-matched Calacatta slabs. We bypassed standard metal enclosures in favor of structural glass channels recessed directly into the stone, which allows the arched, true-divided-light window to flood the volume without visual interruption. The estate’s wine cellar was a spectacular new addition. It features a hand-troweled barrel-vaulted ceiling sitting above custom-milled, solid walnut cabinetry. It feels less like a wine cellar and more like a heritage library.

In the kitchen, the warmth of that rich walnut carries through the flush-inset cabinetry, directly contrasting against a striking Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble that serves as both the countertops and a continuous, full-height backsplash behind the professional Wolf range. The primary vanity embraces strict symmetry with a sprawling marble deck and dual drop-down makeup tiers. Flanked by ornate, gilded rococo mirrors and crystal sconces, the space avoids feeling heavy by keeping the walnut base cabinetry sleek and hardware-minimal. It allows the unlacquered brass bridge faucets and the sheer visual weight of the marble to ensure a timeless renovation.

Key Custom Features: Whole-home walnut millwork package including custom kitchen, furniture-style primary vanities, and a climate-controlled wine room with arched plaster vaulting and bespoke bottle display racking, Statuario and Calacatta marble across primary bath floors/walls/vanities and shower enclosures, Wolf 60" dual-fuel range with Sub-Zero refrigeration columns and Miele dishwashers, Waterworks Easton fittings in unlacquered brass with thermostatic shower controls and rain heads, crystal-and-brass decorative lighting, custom antique-gilt mirror package and tailored vanity elevations, wide-plank European oak flooring with matte oil finish, steam shower integration, and concealed dehumidification upgrades for bath/wine zones with dedicated return strategy

Texas Hill Country Modern

Location: Tanglewood, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: December 2020

We anchored the interior design around structural, rough-hewn ashlar limestone walls, bringing a robust, exterior material inward to create a sense of profound shelter. To counterbalance the rugged, organic texture of the masonry, we introduced Calacatta Oro marble. The kitchen islands feature a massive, three-inch mitered edge, turning the marble into weighty, monolithic blocks that can visually hold their own against the heavy stone. The barrel-vaulted stone archways define the transitions between rooms, inviting you through the home with a sense of warmth.

The millwork and iron details required a beautiful balance between rustic surroundings and refined craftsmanship. The custom cabinetry is crafted from rift-sawn oak, then taupe stained to ground the soaring, light-filled spaces. We flanked the living and dining spaces with soaring, steel-framed windows to flood the heavy materials with natural light, and tied the vertical elevation together with a sweeping, classical staircase featuring custom wrought iron spindles topped with a brass profile. The layout flows smoothly from intimate, sun-drenched family breakfasts in the kitchen to expansive, indoor-outdoor entertaining through the steel doors. It’s a home that feels both deeply rooted in history and entirely, practically equipped for modern luxury.

Key Custom Features: Extensive hand-cut Texas limestone interior masonry and arched openings carried through foyer, kitchen, and primary suite, custom cabinetry package with furniture-style floating vanity millwork and integrated closet/laundry storage under stone barrel arches, Calacatta Oro marble slabs with mitered waterfall island and full-height bath surfaces, appliance suite centered on a Wolf range with Miele refrigeration and built-in coffee system, Dornbracht fittings in bronze, custom curved stair refinishing with dark-stained treads and metal guard upgrade, custom laundry and mudroom build-out with open bays, bench seating, pull-out hampers and concealed laundry integration, crystal drum chandeliers (Visual Comfort), wide-plank white oak flooring

French Provencal Retreat

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: November 2023

When designing this home, the clients told us they wanted a place that felt established, romantic, and inviting. We started from the ground up. The defining feature of this entire renovation is the stunning gray and white honed marble checkerboard floor that we ran through the main living spaces, kitchen, laundry room, and even the primary bath. It immediately sets a relaxed, old-world tone. To play off those cool stone floors, the clients made a beautiful choice for the millwork, opting for a custom, earthy terracotta-clay paint color for all the cabinetry. It adds this incredible, sun-baked warmth to every single room and proves that you don't always have to play it safe with neutral-colored kitchens to get a bright, beautiful result. In the kitchen, we wanted the room to feel less like a standard workspace and more like an extension of the living areas. Instead of standard upper cabinets, we tucked a professional range into a massive, custom-built plaster alcove that instantly draws the eye. We balanced the colorful cabinetry with heavy marble countertops and brought in stunning unlacquered brass accents, most notably a gorgeous custom brass apron-front sink that will develop a rich, lived-in patina over time. Massive, arched gridded windows were incorporated to flood the entire space with natural Texas sunlight.

That romantic, timeless influence carries right out into the grand hallway. We completely rebuilt the sweeping curved staircase with a delicate, minimalist iron and brass railing, keeping the entryway feeling wide open. Right across the hall, we designed a massive glass-enclosed walnut wine room, turning their collection into a glowing focal point. The soft, curved details continue into the primary suite and bathrooms with smooth, plastered arched doorways and integrated wall niches. Wrapping the entire walk-in shower in classic, heavily veined marble and anchoring the room with a deep freestanding soaking tub helped give them the exact resort-level retreat they were hoping for.

Key Custom Features: Continuous honed Carrara and Bardiglio marble checkerboard flooring laid on the diagonal, custom inset cabinetry finished in a bespoke Farrow & Ball earthy terracotta shade, plaster range alcove with hidden ventilation, heavy-veined Calacatta marble countertops with matching backsplash ledges, unlacquered custom brass apron-front sink, appliance package featuring a 48-inch Wolf dual-fuel range and hidden Sub-Zero refrigeration, unlacquered brass bridge faucets and wall-mounted plumbing fixtures by Perrin & Rowe, custom glass-enclosed climate-controlled walnut wine room with peg racking, sweeping custom curved staircase with a tailored iron and brass balustrade, smooth Venetian plaster finishes on all arched entryways and built-in display niches, Victoria + Albert freestanding soaking tub, and custom brass-framed vanity mirrors.

Greenwich Transitional Estate

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: April 2024

For this project, the clients wanted a highly textured, contemporary home that felt distinctly personal and layered. We focused heavily on mixing raw materials with luxurious, high-end finishes. In the main kitchen, sleek, dark flat-panel cabinets sit alongside a massive waterfall island made of Taj Mahal Quartzite. To give the room an artistic focal point, we hung a modern, branching brass chandelier right over the center of the space. We designed a stunning glass-enclosed wine room right off the main hallway, turning their collection into a visible piece of art. In the primary suite, we built a massive fireplace wall out of board-formed concrete. It gives the room a slightly industrial, modern edge that is balanced perfectly by a heavy, floating black marble hearth and warm, wide-plank wood floors.

Throughout the rest of the house, we leaned into custom details and rich, moody contrast. The powder room is a major conversation starter, featuring a custom floating sink made from striking Calacatta Viola marble set against a dark, slatted wood wall. The primary bathroom was designed to feel like a boutique hotel, complete with a freestanding matte tub framed by painted wainscoting and a massive shower entirely wrapped in stone. To pull the whole house together, we applied a soft plaster finish to the walls and stairwell, which looks incredible next to the custom solid brass handrails. From the rustic wood cabinets in the moody wet bar to the vertically stacked brick tile in the scullery, every room was given its own strong identity.

Key Custom Features: Board-formed concrete fireplace surround with floating Nero Marquina marble hearth, smooth Venetian plaster wall finishes throughout the home, solid unlacquered brass custom stair handrails. Main kitchen featuring dark flat-panel cabinetry, Taj Mahal Quartzite waterfall island and matching slab backsplash, appliance package featuring Sub-Zero glass-door refrigeration and Wolf double ovens, and a brass branching chandelier by Lindsey Adelman Studio. Steel-framed glass wine room enclosure with white oak peg racking. Powder bath featuring fluted walnut wall paneling and a custom integrated floating sink in Calacatta Viola marble. Secondary scullery kitchen with vertical clay brick backsplash, soapstone countertops, and a Shaws fireclay fluted apron sink. Primary suite showcasing a Victoria + Albert matte freestanding tub, floor-to-ceiling marble shower enclosure, and unlacquered brass plumbing fixtures by Waterworks. Custom moody wet bar featuring reclaimed wood cabinetry and Belvedere black marble. Wide-plank European white oak hardwood flooring.

Modern Heritage Transitional

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: November 2024

The central design is the freestanding helical staircase. Executing a curved stair of this scale requires immense structural engineering to prevent deflection, utilizing a concealed steel carriage wrapped entirely in custom-finished plaster. The sweeping wrought-iron balustrade, forged on-site, nods to classic ironwork, guiding the eye upward to the double-height gallery. Just beyond, the great room is anchored by a monumental, floor-to-ceiling Venetian plaster fireplace surround. The hand-troweled application provides a subtle, suede-like texture that absorbs the natural light pouring in from the steel-framed fenestrations, softening the massive scale of the room to keep the living areas feeling cozy and grounded.

The kitchen was designed around a colossal island topped with a 5-centimeter slab of honed Mont Blanc quartzite. We specifically sourced quartzite for its crystalline depth and near-impervious durability, a critical requirement for a young couple that frequently entertains. The perimeter cabinetry features a classic inset construction in a warm, custom-stained oak, concealing integrated appliances to maintain a clean visual elevation. We suspended tiered, fluted-crystal chandeliers above the island, an intentional choice to introduce a layer of formal, Gilded Age-inspired refraction against the matte, organic textures of the wood and stone. In the home’s private retreats, we introduced tailored, high-impact moments. The powder room features the iconic Martinique banana leaf wallcovering, a direct request from the clients who love the Beverly Hills Hotel, paired with a massive, block-carved marble trough sink. It’s an exciting inspiration drawn from mid-century Hollywood Regency, executed with modern materials. The primary bath returns to a place of calm, utilizing expansive white oak vanities, polished nickel plumbing fixtures, and a wet room fully clad in vertical-stacked, honed Silver Shadow marble.

Key Custom Features: Warm white oak kitchen with full-height appliance wall and oversized quartzite waterfall island (Mont Blanc), statement decorative lighting package with multi-tier chandeliers (Julie Neill), built-in appliance suite anchored by Monogram Statement ovens with paneled refrigeration and integrated microwave/speed oven stack, custom utility/laundry room millwork with slab worktops and hanging/drying zone, bold powder room featuring custom wallpaper (Martinique banana leaf) and carved stone trough vanity, reworked curved staircase with updated iron balustrade and white oak treads, primary bath dual-vanity suite with makeup station, frameless mirrors, and Brizo Litze knurled brass fittings, oversized walk-in shower with full-height stone tile and multi-function valve trim, and fireplace refacing in plaster/microcement with flush hearth detailing

Rustic European Modern

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: May 2025

When updating the footprint of this magnitude (over 13,400 square feet), the introduction of organic materials is essential to soften the imposing scale. This renovation was inspired by timeless Mediterranean design, defined by massive arched windows and walls finished in authentic, hand-troweled Tadelakt plaster. The kitchen centers around a true sculptural masterpiece: a monolithic, curved island meticulously fabricated from Arabescato Corchia marble. Bending and wrapping stone of this thickness to follow a radius requires master-level stone masonry. We paired this cool marble with warm, custom-fluted oak cabinetry nestled seamlessly into the plaster arches, creating a kitchen that is a functional powerhouse.

In the living and library spaces, we focused heavily on textural contrast and thermal warmth. We engineered a massive, floor-to-ceiling feature wall using dry-stacked Texas limestone. The rugged, tactile nature of the limestone pairs brilliantly against the precision of the rift-sawn oak library shelving and the rich, dark walnut planking on the ceiling. A sweeping, custom wrought-iron and brass staircase elegantly bridges the home's levels. These vast, open-plan spaces were expertly re-zoned so the family can host large-scale philanthropic events without the home ever losing its sense of warmth. The primary wing is dedicated to wellness and relaxation. We designed a custom, brass-framed, glass-enclosed wine room that sits directly adjacent to the bar. The bathing quarters feature an extraordinary solid block-carved marble soaking tub resting on large-format, honed Belgian bluestone flooring. Managing the HVAC, vapor barriers, and drainage for a high-moisture luxury zone of this magnitude is a highly technical endeavor, but the result is a flawless, world-class residence where the homeowners can retreat and recharge

Key Custom Features: Rift-cut white oak architectural millwork package with arched kitchen elevation, integrated niche shelving, and full-height paneling, oversized marble waterfall island with bookmatched end grain orientation and concealed outlet strategy, custom curved stair refinishing with reworked guardrails and upgraded tread/landing detailing, minimalist primary bath with monolithic marble tub, full-slab shower wall assemblies and floating vanity millwork, AXOR Citterio fittings in brushed brass, concealed LED mirror and niche illumination, custom, brass-framed, glass-enclosed wine room, wet bar, cedar-lined wellness/sauna room buildout (Tylo Saunas), and thermally modified wood ceiling cladding, imported large-format Belgian Bluestone flooring, Gaggenau cooking/oven package with integrated refrigeration and coffee system, and Lutron HomeWorks QSX + motorized shading throughout double-height living areas

Parisian Classical Revival

Location: River Oaks, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: November 2021

The grounding element of this estate’s renovation is the large-format checkerboard flooring, precision-cut from alternating honed Nero Marquina and Bianco Carrara marble. Anchoring the primary sightlines is the custom millwork, finished in a high-build lacquer in a saturated midnight blue. This reflective, highly structured cabinetry, complete with fluted glass displays, provides a structural, dark contrast to the organic movement of the primary stone. The countertops, continuous full-height backsplashes, and monolithic waterfall island are clad in a spectacular brecciated Arabescato Corchia marble. The pronounced veining of this stone, with its stark white background and heavy charcoal networks, acts as the primary visual texture against the solid, dark millwork, completely eliminating the need for applied ornamentation.

In the primary bath, this high-contrast material design continues. The Arabescato marble is employed again for the dual vanity top and integral backsplash, flanked by unlacquered brass-framed arched mirrors and reeded glass sconces that reference Art Deco geometries. Unlacquered brass fixtures are utilized throughout the home, from the articulated bridge kitchen faucets to the wall-mounted vanity sets, introducing a living metallic finish that brings warmth to the cool tones of the stone and lacquer. The freestanding solid-surface composite soaking tub was positioned within the dedicated alcove, framed by the continuation of the diagonal checkerboard marble. The space relies entirely on volume, symmetry, and the uncompromising quality of the fine materials to establish its beauty.

Key Custom Features: High-gloss navy lacquer cabinetry with furniture-grade paneling and polished unlacquered brass hardware (Armac Martin Hardware), dramatic Nero Marquina + Bianco Carrara checkerboard stone flooring laid in oversized format, Arabescato Corchia marble slab island/range wall/bar program with bookmatched slab shelving, statement chef’s kitchen, Sub-Zero wine refrigeration and True undercounter beverage refrigeration at the bar, custom fluted/ribbed glass upper cabinet fronts, powder and bath vanities with marble aprons and integrated edge buildups, Visual Comfort and Hudson Valley brass decorative lighting package, TOTO Washlet+ smart toilets and heated bath flooring, and Lutron RadioRA 3 scene control with dedicated artwork/sconce circuits

Moody Contemporary

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: March 2025

The clients embraced a deeply tactile, moody palette. The millwork is a rich, flat-panel rift-sawn dark walnut, its vertical grain drawing the eye up toward the ceiling. To balance the visual weight of the wood, the island is wrapped in a breathtaking slab of Taj Mahal quartzite. We chose quartzite here not just for its long-term durability, but for those ethereal, warm taupe undertones that bridge the dark cabinetry and the wide-plank European white oak floors perfectly. The oversized, burnished bronze conical pendants provide a necessary weight to the space without cluttering the sightlines out to the lush Houston canopy framed by the steel mullions.

Moving into the powder bath, the design continues with a breathtaking panoramic grisaille cloud mural. The floating vanity is topped with a honed soapstone, offering a beautiful, chalky matte texture against the warm, directional light. In the wet room, we opted for large-format, vein-cut silver travertine. Laying it horizontally mimics the natural sedimentary strata of the earth, creating an incredibly grounding, yet deeply restorative spa experience.

Key Custom Features: Rift-cut walnut full-height kitchen and bar millwork with integrated shadow reveals and touch-latch upper systems, quartzite island and backsplash package (Taj Mahal stone) with mitered waterfall legs and full-height slab returns, appliance suite built around La Cornue Range, Gaggenau 400 Series steam oven + Thermador refrigeration columns and panel-ready dishwashers, custom metal hood and sculptural pendant package from Apparatus Studio, primary bath with backlit LED mirror recesses, floating walnut vanity and integrated stone sinks, curbless wet-room shower with oversized ceiling rain panel, linear slot drain, moody lacquered powder room with custom Calico wallpaper and boutique hospitality lighting, low-voltage prewire for motorized shades/security/audio, and concealed HVAC grille/slot diffuser upgrades to preserve minimalist sightlines

Neo-Palladian Revival

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: June 2018

This renovation pairs traditional, heavy profiles with exceptionally precise masonry and custom metalwork. In the primary kitchen, a large-format, custom-fabricated brass ventilation canopy anchors the perimeter. This sits directly over a continuous, full-height slab backsplash and countertops executed in a heavily veined Calacatta marble. The perimeter millwork utilizes flush-inset doors painted in a crisp white, which strongly contrasts with the central island. The island base is constructed from stained oak and incorporates traditional turned-leg supports. The sightlines carry through to the exterior via true-divided-light, steel-mullioned doors. Moving into the adjacent utility and mudroom corridor, the flooring transitions from wide-plank oak to a classic, large-format checkerboard layout utilizing honed Nero Marquina and Bianco Dolomiti marble tiles, bringing premium, highly durable stone applications into the high-traffic service zones.

The wet rooms focus extensively on solid-state material applications and complex plumbing rough-ins. The centerpiece of the primary bath is a freestanding bathtub carved entirely from a single monolith of brecciated Arabescato marble. This extremely heavy fixture is serviced by a floor-mounted brass tub filler. The adjacent vanity utilizes a reeded oak profile with brass drop-pull hardware, topped with a thick-mitered marble deck. Sourcing wall-mounted, unlacquered brass valve trims here requires exact millimeter precision during the framing and plumbing rough-in phases to ensure they sit perfectly flush against the stone backsplash. The shower enclosure is fully wrapped in coordinated marble, utilizing a herringbone mosaic pattern for the sloped pan, an integrated stone bench, and heavy-duty, frameless glass channel assemblies.

Key Custom Features: Transitional chef’s kitchen with custom paint-grade cabinetry, contrasting stained island, and hand-finished brass hood surround inspired by classic European metalwork shops, appliance suite centered on Wolf rangetop + ovens with Sub-Zero columns and Cove dishwasher integration, Calacatta marble backsplash and counters with mitered island edge buildup, custom mudroom/laundry suite with checkerboard Nero Marquina and Bianco Dolomiti stone flooring, built-in locker storage and front-load laundry integration, furniture-style primary vanity with reeded panel accents and marble tops, sculptural freestanding stone tub and marble-clad shower with herringbone mosaic floor (Ann Sacks), Kallista brass plumbing fittings, Visual Comfort pendants and sconces, and HVAC zoning/dehumidification refinements to support high-moisture bath areas and large steel-look window openings

Cotswolds English Cottage

Location: Bellaire, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: October 2024

For this home, we looked to the timeless, hardworking sculleries and grand kitchens of 18th-century English country estates, translating that historical vernacular for modern Houston living. The heart of the home is defined by an incredible combination of textures. We utilized custom V-groove and reeded cabinetry, finished in a beautifully sophisticated putty tone, which grounds the expansive space. Overhead, structural hand-hewn reclaimed timber beams traverse the ceiling, adding immense historical weight and warmth. The showpiece is undoubtedly the massive, solid walnut island countertop and the custom-fabricated unlacquered brass range hood, materials specifically chosen because they will wear and age beautifully.

Moving into the bathrooms and prep spaces, the stonework takes center stage. We sourced incredible slabs of Paonazzo marble for the double vanities, utilizing its distinctive, rich gold and charcoal veining to create an integrated backsplash with a profiled edge detail. This is flanked by vintage-inspired, custom heavy-cast brass sconces that cast a gorgeous, flattering light. The primary shower is fully clad in meticulously matched Calacatta Oro slabs, paired with a custom frameless glass enclosure and exposed-pipe brass thermostatic shower fittings, offering an uncompromisingly luxurious, spa-level experience for the homeowners to begin and end their days. We also purposefully designed intimate, moody spaces to contrast with the light-filled main rooms. The transition into the powder and bar areas features timeless, textural grasscloth wallcoverings paired with heavily veined marble countertops. This creates an atmospheric shift for evening entertaining. By balancing these rich, historical materials with deeply thoughtful space planning, we delivered a renovation that is profoundly elegant, yet incredibly robust and forgiving for a busy family life.

Key Custom Features: Bespoke v-groove mushroom-taupe cabinetry featuring Armac Martin burnished brass catches, hand-fabricated brass range hood and metal trim package inspired by classic British bespoke kitchens, appliance suite centered on Wolf 60" range with double ovens, Sub-Zero PRO refrigeration, Miele dishwashers and Scotsman nugget ice, secondary utility/laundry room with stacked washers/dryers, locker storage and stone worktops, full-slab Calacatta Oro shower enclosure with bench and polished brass thermostatic shower system (House of Rohl), furniture-style dual vanity with framed mirrors and decorative sconces by Urban Electric Co., Schumacher grasscloth wallcoverings. custom wet bar with walnut shelving and undercounter refrigeration, and integrated whole-home surge protection + generator transfer prep during electrical modernization

Southern Traditional

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: November 2019

Welcome to a home that conveys pure, classic taste. This project is fine traditional craftsmanship, gently updated for a modern, airy lifestyle. The home feels light, expansive, and utterly timeless. Throughout the main living areas, we utilized beautiful, wide-plank natural oak floors that bring a soft, sunny warmth to the foundation. The millwork is the true hero here. We designed extensive, classic white inset cabinetry in the kitchen, complete with traditional crown molding, elegant brass hardware, and panel-ready appliances for a seamless look. However, notice the mudroom; we switched to a natural, unstained wood finish for the lockers paired with a durable, dark slate floor. This shift gives the utility space its own distinct, slightly more rustic identity while remaining entirely cohesive with the home.

The use of stone in this home is meant to feel like it has been there for a century. We selected a classic white marble with soft, wispy grey veining for the expansive kitchen island and countertops, complemented by oversized, vintage-inspired brass dome pendants. The primary bathroom is a serene, spa-like experience wrapped almost entirely in matching white marble, elevated by a delicate, traditional crystal chandelier. Our absolute favorite detail, however, is the powder room. We installed traditional wainscoting painted in a crisp Chantilly Lace from Benjamin Moore (their highest Light Reflectance Value Paint). It is contrasted with a chunky, modern floating marble vanity and an incredibly ornate, antique-gold mirror. It reinforces that honoring traditional silhouettes, when bathed in natural light and a understated color palette, will simply never go out of style.

Key Custom Features: Statuario Venato marble countertops and backsplashes sourced from Tuscany with dramatic gray veining, crisp all-white Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace shaker cabinetry with full-overlay doors and polished nickel hardware by Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry, freestanding Victoria + Albert IOS freestanding soaking tub in primary suite, 8" wide-plank European white oak flooring in natural matte finish, ornate 24-karat gilded Louis Philippe mirrors with hand-applied gold leaf by Mirror Image, professional-grade Wolf 48" dual-fuel range with infrared broiler, Miele fully integrated dishwasher and refrigerator, Waterworks Ludlow polished nickel faucets and tub filler, radiant-heated Statuario marble floors in master bath, Savant Pro smart home system with Sonos whole-home audio, custom arched transom windows with motorized Roman shades, handcrafted crown molding and wainscoting throughout shared spaces

Belgian Contemporary

Location: The Woodlands, Texas

Renovation Completion: September 2025

We vaulted the main great room, anchoring the sightlines with solid, structural Douglas fir timber trusses. This allowed us to maintain an airy verticality without the space feeling overly cavernous or cold. Flanking this grand living space, we integrated thermally broken, true-divided-light steel windows, an essential engineering choice for mitigating that fierce Texas summer sun while still bathing the interior in calibrated natural light. To unify the expansive layout, we laid 9-inch, rift and quartered European white oak across the floor plan. We treated it with a custom matte reactive stain that interacts well with the natural tannins, resulting in a floor that feels as soft as silk under bare feet.

The heart of the home, the kitchen, instituted a highly functional dual-island configuration, surfacing them in sequential slabs of honed Macaubas quartzite. Surrounding these islands, the fully custom, flush-inset shaker cabinetry is finished in a specialized warm greige lacquer. The heavy-hitter in this room is the custom-fabricated plaster range hood surround, engineered to harmonize the kitchen visually while allowing the heavy, unlacquered brass hardware across the room to serve as the finer touches. Tucked behind matching millwork panels are seamless floor-to-ceiling appliance units. In the bathrooms, we wrapped the walk-in shower expanses in hand-molded Moroccan Zellige tiles to create a shifting texture across the walls. This earthy element is beautifully paired with exposed thermostatic brass shower fittings.

Key Custom Features: Transitional open-plan renovation with custom white oak and paint-grade cabinetry, built-in living room library millwork flanking fireplace, beam-accented ceiling detailing, oversized islands with honed Macaubas quartzite, appliance suite anchored by a Wolf 48" dual-fuel range, Sub-Zero built-in refrigeration, and Cove dishwasher, Brizo Litze plumbing and shower trim in brushed brass, primary bath with large-format porcelain floors, freestanding soaking tub, frameless shower enclosure with vertically stacked tile and inset niches, decorative lighting mixing Julie Neill and Visual Comfort fixtures, upgraded recessed lighting layout with warm-dim drivers, and integrated structured wiring for AV + future smart shading

Organic Modern

Location: Memorial Villages, Houston, Texas

Renovation Completion: April 2022

This home leans into a highly tailored material palette that feels both contemporary and timeless. The bathrooms are built around warm neutral plaster walls, oversized round mirrors, and expanses of dramatic grey-and-white marble used as countertops, splash panels, and full-height tub surrounds. The vanities are fully custom, with long, furniture-style millwork in a pale oak tone. In the primary bath, the scale is particularly striking: an elongated double vanity is paired with expansive steel-look windows that flood the space with natural light and reinforce the home’s clean design lines.

A freestanding soaking tub becomes a sculptural focal point in the primary bath, set in front of richly veined stone and accented by pendant lighting in warm metallic finishes. Elsewhere, the palette deepens into a more dramatic mood, with a secondary bath wrapped in smoky charcoal plaster walls, the floating ribbed vanity, and chevron-pattern flooring add movement underfoot. Across all of the wet spaces, the consistent use of rounded mirrors, integrated stone surfaces, brass plumbing, and softly tonal wall finishes creates a cohesive spa-like atmosphere. The kitchen carries the same elevated look, with full-height custom cabinetry, a substantial island, pale stone countertops, a large plaster hood surround, and elegant statement chandeliers that soften the room’s scale. The result is a home that feels polished and custom at every turn, balancing softness, contrast, and material richness without ever becoming visually heavy.

Key Custom Features: Spa-inspired bath design with custom pale oak vanities, fluted/ribbed millwork detailing, oversized round mirrors with warm metallic framing, grey-and-white marble countertops and wall applications, freestanding soaking tub with full-height stone backdrop, brass plumbing fittings and decorative lighting, moody secondary bath with dark plaster walls and chevron flooring, expansive steel-look windows, large-format flooring in soft neutral tones, and a tailored kitchen with full-height custom cabinetry, dark-painted island millwork, stone countertops, plaster range hood surround, designer chandelier lighting, and a cohesive warm-minimal material palette throughout.
